Connect Ipad to MacBook Pro secured adhoc

Hi,
this is a question to apple user (no body is perfect)
In my live set up I need to connect my iPad and mbp to use OSC, I'm able to create a adhoc wifi spot on my mbp but it's not secured, it seems that password are deprecated ??!!
Is someone has a solution for this problem ? I can use my iPhone to create a secured network but it's not really optimal

this is the solution I found :
connect the iPad with usb and that's it ...
only problem is that you can't go away of the computer

Do you worry that someone in the audience will connect to your O-S-C session?

Also, and don't won't people to be able to access to my cpu too

I will buy a wifi router as I am more and more using ethernet for video and audio
